Is dog racing abusive?
60What horrible things these animals suffered!
Exploiting Grey Hound Racing
Do you believe its ok to push an innocent creature to its death for the thrill of winning a few dollars? In reality, these animals are used souly for racing for our amusement and to keep our pockets full. Yes,some may have the exception of a great and loving owner. But, for others, their life is one day of missary after another. Being caged and kept muzzeled day in and day out. Does this sound fair to you? I dont believe a grey hound with its low body fat and thin skin coat should be forced to race in subzero and extremely hot temperatures for our own personal ammusment. I recently learned of one hundred dogs being injured and 18 casualties during the first 9months of 2000 at an Iowa dog track .
Allowing an animal to be muzzeled and kept in a kennel at all times just isn't right, nor fair. Some of these dogs suffer kennel and muzzel sores. Some have internal and external parasites. Some animals die before they even reach the age of retirement due to broken legs, heartstrokes, and heart attacks. To me this just isnt okay! Some grey hounds die during transport from track to track. Trainers and owners putting up to three dogs in a crate while having over 60 dogs in a truck. These selfish people would rather throw ice on the truck floor then allow these animals to be cooled by air condition, allowing the trucks to reach temperatures in excess of 100 degrees on hot summer days. In 2002 many grey hounds died during a 100 mile trip from Naple to Miami. Now tell me,does this seem fair? How would you feel to fear the only person who is suppose to care for you?
